1970s – A Vision for Affordable Mobility
As transportation challenges grew across urban and rural India, the late Jagjivanbhai Karsanbhai Chandra identified the need for a reliable, affordable solution. His focus was clear: overcome poor road conditions while making transport accessible to everyday people and small businesses.
Innovation – The Birth of the ATUL 3-Wheeler
Through dedicated research and engineering, a practical transport vehicle was developed using motorcycle technology. This innovation led to the creation of the ATUL 3-wheel vehicle, widely known as the Chhakada, Auto Rickshaw, Tuk-Tuk, or 3-Wheeler—designed for durability, efficiency, and affordability.
Growth & Expansion – Advancing the Legacy
Continuing his father’s vision, Mr Jayantibhai Chandra introduced diesel-powered technology and expanded the range with models such as Shakti, Smart, and Gem. These vehicles addressed a wide range of needs, including passenger transport, cargo movement, delivery services, and light commercial use.
South Africa – Local Assembly & Compliance
In South Africa, Dynamic Automotive Systems (DAS) holds the exclusive rights to import, assemble, and distribute the ATUL range of vehicles. All vehicles are locally assembled, fully homologated, and approved for use on South African roads, ensuring reliability, regulatory compliance, and complete confidence for owners.
